The end of a chapter.
A message from Ines and Bernardo, co-founders
After five years of hard work, the company we had once thought to be filling a gap in the market is no longer resonating with where we want to be.
Due to the growing pressure on small businesses in the arts and culture, the validation is in front of our eyes: the model diagonal dance was initially designed for is no longer sustainable.
We’ve put our hearts and our know-how into helping dance organisations and creatives connect with broader audiences. There are many achievements we’re proud of.
Recently, we’ve changed our trading name to match more closely with the scope of projects we’ve been serving, day in and day out. It was no longer just about serving the dance sector, and the later decision to offer our expertise to other cultural sectors was what kept the structure afloat.
While there are now priorities to be redefined, we must give ourselves the time and space.
As to what comes to Stretch, the flagship event that came to life in complement to our business model, will also be adjusted. The model of a conference and showcase event open to everyone working in and around the dance sector proved that the dance community craved for an event that spoke to their needs. And we delivered it first.
Notwithstanding, it’s a fact that production costs are on the rise, and that unfortunately risks compromising our entire structure.
Positively, though, Stretch grew with its own identity and purpose, and the feedback we’ve been receiving leaves us humbled to keep carrying it on. We’ll be trying our best to seek for broader fundraising options to keep Stretch a reality.
We’ve also been approached by global partners to bring Stretch to their countries, and so we’ll be focused on crossing borders in an attempt to reach out to many more dance practitioners. You can expect announcements to be made soon.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our clients and collaborators, those who’ve trusted us with their time and creations. Two young entrepreneurs who’ve years ago travelled outside their comfort zones at all possible levels to make this possible. Fear is the enemy of progress, and we don’t buy into it.
Please take care, and you’ll see us again when we’re ready.
With love,
Ines and Bernardo
